Dear America: With the Might of Angels

Coretta Scott King Award winner Andrea Davis Pinkney is the latest author to lend her talents to the Dear America® series. In With the Might of Angels, she follows 12-year-old Dawnie Rae Johnson in 1955. The Supreme Court has just ruled on Brown v. Board of Education, and Dawnie learns that she is going to enter what used to be an all-white school. Watch the book trailer here!

We have an exclusive interview with Andrea, where she covers what it was like tackling such a historically significant topic, how she researched it, and what some of her dreams were as a 12-year-old. Check out the interview below, share it with your students and children, and open up the conversation about celebrating and embracing our differences!

You can find Dear America®: With the Might of Angels on TAB this September.

I really like this book. It is so moving to what she is saying . I could picyure everything that was going on right in my mind! :)

  2. I have a book review website, this book was my first book review subject. I gave it 10 stars on a ranking of 1 to 10. It was very good and descriptive. It also had a lot of information, and it mentioned a lot of real people. I will for sure recommend this book to my friends.
