Top Book Trailers from 2011!

A Tale Dark & Grimm by Adam Gidwitz

Once upon a time, fairy tales were awesome. So says the deep-voiced narrator of the book trailer for A Tale Dark & Grimm. And he is right! The trailer perfectly encapsulates the feel of this fantastic (and fantastical) novel. You can see it in the way the animation and art match the dark cover of this fresh, funny, and grimm take on the Grimms’ fairy tales. Definitely a must for our list of favorite trailers!

My Big Mouth: 10 Songs I Wrote That Almost Got Me Killed by Peter Hannan

If The Amazing Dweebs ever played a show, I would wait in line for tickets. Peter Hannan created an incredible book trailer for his novel about Davis Delaware (not from Delaware) and the band that takes him to the head of the school. One of the most awesome things about this trailer is that Peter Hannan not only did the art himself, he performs the theme song himself!

The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater

Another do-it-yourself author with a LOT of talent! Maggie Stiefvater’s drawings come to life in this stop-motion trailer for her heart-pounding thriller, The Scorpio Races. Let’s not forget that she also composed the music and performed it (alongside Kate Hummel)! How could anyone not want to read the book after watching this?

Even Monsters Need Haircuts by Matthew McElligott

Matt McElligot just needed a little trim. I don’t see anything strange about a big, pink, furry monster helping him out while he talks about Even Monsters Need Haircuts. Looks perfectly normal to me, yes sir. This book is too cute and the trailer is even cuter. How could this book and trailer not be on our list?
