Get Ready for Easter!

Icy wind ripping through my hair, overcast skies, my winter coat doing nothing to keep me warm—all the signs of…spring? While the weather may not be cooperating here in New York, it is definitely spring, which will eventually mean sunshine, fresh flowers, and EASTER!

Every night before Easter (to this day!), my family and I decorate hard-boiled eggs in wacky patterns. We’re no band of artists, but our eggs are made with love. While everyone is asleep, the Easter Bunny hides all the eggs in the house for the “children” (yes, I still hunt for eggs) to find in the morning.

When I was seven, I awoke Easter morning to a letter from the Easter Bunny. In this personal letter, he explained that my Easter eggs were cracked and beginning to smell because he accidentally dropped them. I could not have cared less—I was beyond thrilled to receive a letter from the Bunny himself.Years later, even though I know it may not have been the Easter Bunny who dropped my eggs and penned a note, Easter remains one of my favorite holidays.

We don’t have many Easter books except for Little Critter, so I think I will be adding Happy Easter, Mouse & Happy Easter Curious George to our bookshelf this year. Both of these authors have been mine and my kids’ favorites for years! I am also intrigued to read Max’s Chocolate Chicken. My kids never got into Max & Ruby, but this book looks good. Thanks for the list.

My 3 year old son just borrowed Clifford’s Happy Easter from our library. I’m thinking about getting Happy Easter Mouse for him for Easter.
