Tell the One You Love: ¡Te adoro!

Valentine’s Day is famous for candy, flowers, and all things love. Did you know that in Spanish it’s commonly called El Día del Amor y la Amistad, meaning “the day of love and friendship”?  And that some of the most popular phrases are: “te quiero,” “te amo,” and “te adoro”? Lovely, right?

Do you want to learn more? Check out this phrase list:

Te quiero – I love you

Besos – Kisses

Abrazos – Hugs

Para ti – For you

Mi vida – My life (used as a term of endearment)

Sonrisas – Smiles

Club Leo en español’s January Dollar Book celebrates the love and friendship between parent and child. So make sure to look for it!

Te adoro (Yummiest Love) by Lisa McCourt is playful and charming, and the story is told in beautiful and lyrical rhymes. Here is one of our favorite passages:

Adoro tus cosquillas,

Tus tumbos y sonrisas.

Adoro todo lo que has sido

Y en lo que te convertirás.

(I love all our tickles

And tumbles and smiles.

I love everything you’ve been

And everything you’ll become.)

Happy Valentine’s Day! ¡Feliz Día del Amor y la Amistad!
