Happy April Fool’s Day!

No joke, today is April Fools’ Day! And although pranks are not entirely out of character for me, I’ve decided to lie on the lower side and honor the day’s silliness with a poem. It is National Poetry Month after all, so uniting the worlds of nonsense and verse seems very fitting.

The awesome and kind of foolish poem below comes from none other than Shel Silverstein. Happy April Fools’ Day, everyone!


Oh Have You Heard (from Where the Sidewalk Ends)

Oh have you heard it’s time for vaccinations?
I think someone put salt into your tea.
They’re giving us eleven-month vacations.
And Florida has sunk into the sea.
Oh have you heard
the President has measles?
The principal has just
burned down the school.
Your hair is full of ants
And purple weasels-
