#LoveTeachers: Anna Dewdney

Anna Dewdney’s Llama Llama is unquestionably a friend to early childhood teachers everywhere. His struggles with good-byes, bedtimes, and bullies resonate because of how real they are. In addition to his mama, one adult who helps Llama Llama is his zebra teacher. Because Teacher is so understanding, we thought there might be a special teacher in the life of Anna Dewdney. We asked her to share a memory of her favorite teacher, Mrs. Oakes.

“My favorite teacher asked this very shy little girl to get up in front of the classroom and recite a piece of poetry every week. Mrs. Oakes, I learned to cherish spoken verse in 4th grade. I love it so much that I’m still getting up in front of people and reciting verse…and I think of you every time.”
