Do You Know Mac Barnett?

Mac Barnett talking about children's books via ted.com

Some fun facts about Mac Barnett:

  • He believed in “secret doors” as a kid.
  • He used to be a camp counselor.
  • He loves to make up stories for children.

Mac is a rising star in the picture book world. He’s published 18 books for children in only six years! He’s collaborated with some of our favorite authors and illustrators, including Jon Klassen (Sam and Dave Dig a Hole), Dan Santat (The Adventures of Beekle: The Unimaginary Friend), and Jon Scieszka (The Stinky Cheese Man and Other Fairly Stupid Tales), among others. He seemed a natural pick for our April SeeSaw author highlight.

If we had to pick just two of Mac Barnett’s books to suggest, we’d choose these:

Battle Bunny: Alex turns a sappy bunny book into a top-secret mission to stop evil—and makes himself the hero!

Check out this link where you can make your own version and see what others have dreamt up.

Oh No! (Or How My Science Project Destroyed the World): This girl’s science fair robot is on the loose. Should she build a giant toad monster to stop it?

We can’t wait to see what he comes up with next!
